OReeseo Bars

I am not the first to attempt this tectonic treat.

I walk in the footsteps of giants who have already successfully combined milk chocolate with peanut butter and chocolate cookie wafer with frosting.

I follow in the wake of magicians who have already skillfully sandwiched these well-known confections between batter and dough and layered them into one spell-binding dessert that captivates and amazes.

I make this piddling attempt out of respect and admiration.

I make this offering to fuel my pursuit of knowledge.

And I make this hybrid of confections out of the need… for dessert!

Layer # 1
1 Stick Unsalted Butter, Room Temperature
1 ¼ Cup Brown Sugar
1 Egg, Room Temperature
1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
¼ Irish Cream Liqueur (Kerrygold or Bailey’s)
1 ¾ Cups AP Flour
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Tsp. Kosher Salt

Cream together butter
Add egg and vanilla, followed by Liqueur
Sift together dry ingredients then incorporate into wet ingredients
Press into the bottom of a buttered 9×13” pan

Layer #2
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups

Unwrap and arrange Reese’s in desired pattern
I used both regular and fun size Reese’s!

Layer #3
Double Stuffed Oreos

Use your hands to crush the Oreos directly on top of the Reese’s
No need for uniformity here!

Layer #4
1 Stick Unsalted Butter, Room Temperature
1 Cup Brown Sugar
1 Egg, Room Temperature
1 Tsp. Vanilla Extract
¼ Irish Cream Liqueur (Kerrygold or Bailey’s)
1 Cup AP Flour
½ Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Tsp. Kosher Salt

Cream butter and sugar
Add egg and vanilla, followed by Liqueur
Sift together dry ingredients then incorporate into wet ingredients
Top the Reese’s and Oreos with this chocolate cookie batter

This mixture will be stickier than the first. The best method is to use a spatula and a well-intentioned wrist to scrape out all the dough, then wet your hands with warm water and use your fingers to manipulate the dough across the top. It is ok if a few bits peak through the layers.

If you have it around, take some sea salt flake and sprinkle them across for a final flourish before popping them into a 335°F oven for 20 minutes!

Allow to cool, and then revel in this layered production that delivers the kind of treat that makes you feel like all is right with the world.

This feeling is false, but that is ok.

We all deserve a moment of blissful ignorance every once in a while before returning to the realities of the world.
